The Thanksgiving Project
I was inspired recently by an artist friend, Nancy Crawford, to create a project similar to her Birthday Project, which celebrated her 50th birthday.
This is my Thanksgiving Project.
A person can be appreciative, as in “I appreciate your kind words.” Or grateful, as in “I’m grateful for you giving me a ride to the airport. What I feel for some of the cherished people in my life is much deeper than that. I am thankful to God for bringing them into my life, for they have helped me to be the man I am today. They are forever woven into the fabric of my very being, and for that I am thankful - thankful to them, and thankful to God.
In a spirit of thankfulness, I have selected 25 people for whom I am most thankful. They are my treasured 25. As a gift to them, I created 50 original and unique works of art. I gave each person two works: one to keep and one to place somewhere out in the world for a stranger to find.
All 50 works are on 5” by 5” art boards cut from a large sheet which had a Scripture written on it in India ink: Psalms chapter 147 verse 7. I then painted each one with encaustic paints using a variety of techniques and materials.
So, thank you all for visiting and sharing, and know that you are all in my prayers with thanksgiving.
Here is a short but quite nice video about how this project was made: https://youtu.be/CgZbig0lK9k
